George A. Romero was engaged on what would’ve been his final zombie movie ever when he handed away in 2017 and now, after years of teases, it’s lastly taking place. Romero’s estate has teamed with the manufacturing firm Roundtable to carry the movie, known as Twilight of the Lifeless, to life. And whereas the company had already hired Brad Anderson (Session 9) to direct, they’ve now added Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) and Betty Gabriel (Get Out) to star.
“We’re thrilled to share Milla Jovovich’s return to the zombie style on this contemporary and unique approach with Twilight of the Lifeless,” Roundtable’s Sarah Donnelly advised Deadline. “With Brad’s masterful, visionary route and Milla’s distinctive capability to command the display as a bona fide motion star with emotional depth and resiliency, there’s little doubt this movie will probably be a riveting, compelling standout within the style.”
Twilight would be the seventh movie within the Romero saga, which began with 1968’s landmark Night time of the Dwelling Lifeless and continued in 1978’s Daybreak of the Lifeless, 1985’s Day of the Lifeless, 2005’s Land of the Lifeless, 2007’s Diary of the Lifeless, and 2009’s Survival of the Lifeless. This time, the movie will happen on a tropical island and “delve into the darkish nature of humanity from the angle of the final people on earth who’re caught between factions of the undead,” in keeping with Deadline.
“I see this movie in the identical approach as profitable post-apocalyptic thrillers reminiscent of I Am Legend, A Quiet Place, The Highway, and The Final of Us—style tales which can be as emotional as they’re intense,” Anderson stated. “Once I first learn Twilight of The Lifeless I teared up on the finish. Which is bizarre for a movie of this kind. However it has that sort of pull, that combo of horror and heartbreak that I like.”
No phrase on who Jovovich or Gabriel are taking part in, or when the movie will come out, but it surely’ll shoot in 2025.
